Crafting the Perfect Art Exhibition: Tips From BBAS

Meet Joshua Love, the visionary behind the Black Boy and Black Girl Art Show Series, a  celebration of black artists and their voices. Originating in Atlanta, Georgia, a city with a rich cultural heritage, the shows were born from Joshua's passion to create a space where black artists felt seen, celebrated, and safe. What started with 15 artists in an old church's basement has now blossomed into a magnificent series featuring over 2,000 artists across more than 30 cities.

The Impact of the Black Boy and Black Girl Art Show Series

Joshua’s  vision for the art shows was clear—to provide a platform for black artists to showcase their talents and express their unique perspectives. Speaking about the shows' early days, Joshua says, "I wanted to create an experience where black artists felt seen and celebrated. That old church basement was all I really needed to turn that dream into reality."

The events struck a chord within the community, drawing about 150 attendees to the first show in Atlanta. It was an extraordinary accomplishment for Joshua, fueling his dedication to empowering artists who deserved a celebrated space of the highest quality. As the shows expanded to more cities, the impact grew exponentially.

Tips from the Success of the Black Boy and Black Girl Art Show Series

1. Purpose-Driven Events: Define a clear purpose and vision for your event. Joshua's passion for empowering black artists and providing a safe space drove the success of the Black Boy and Black Girl Art Show Series.

2. Trust and Empower Teams: As the series grew, Joshua learned the power of trust and delegation. Empowering capable teams in different cities to organize events aligned with the brand's vision allowed for smooth expansion.

3. Scalable Systems: Embrace technology and scalable systems like Eventeny to streamline event management. Eventeny's user-friendly interface, centralized controls, and event duplication feature allowed Joshua to focus on the bigger picture while maintaining consistency across shows.

Eventeny's Role in Empowering the Series

Joshua credits Eventeny for playing a vital role in the series' exponential growth. The platform's ease of use and accessibility made event management a breeze. "Eventeny allowed us to scale at a very fast rate," Joshua notes. "One of the major tools for scale is systems that allow you to disappear because you have something in place that takes that stress off of you, so for us Eventeny is one of those systems."

Eventeny provided a seamless experience for both organizers and attendees, enabling Joshua to focus on the artists and the meaningful impact of the shows. As a result, the Black Boy and Black Girl Art Show Series became a testament to the power of collaboration between visionary event organizers and innovative event management platforms.

A Future Filled with Creative Possibilities

As Joshua Love's art shows continue to inspire and empower artists across the nation, the success story of the Black Boy and Black Girl Art Show Series remains a beacon of hope for event organizers everywhere. Driven by passion, fueled by teamwork, and empowered by innovative tools like Eventeny, Joshua's journey showcases the transformative potential of events in fostering creativity, representation, and community connection.

As the art shows and Eventeny both move forward, the future is filled with boundless creative possibilities. Joshua's advice for fellow event organizers is to embrace a clear purpose, trust capable teams, and leverage scalable systems. With these ingredients, they too can ignite powerful movements that celebrate art, diversity, and the voices that shape our world.
